Originally homesteaded in the 1920’s, this historic guest ranch has garnered a reputation for both exceptional ski vacations and exceptional western hospitality. Guests come back year after year to visit their Ranch “family” among the long-term crew and other guests. Over 90 kilometers of perfectly groomed trails wind through forests on popular trails like Little Bavaria and then open up for spectacular views of Lone Mountain. Novice or experts find plenty of trails to choose from as well as ski lessons, rentals and ski gear in the Outdoor Shop. Looking for a multi-sport winter vacation? The Ranch has it all. Downhill skiers can access nearby Big Sky Ski Resort and Moonlight Basin via a free shuttle that makes regular runs to and from the Ranch throughout the day. For snowshoers, there are over 20 kilometers of packed trails that leave right from the Ranch village. Yellowstone Park ski tours are a favorite among guests, who have a chance to see wintering herds of elk and bison, as well as wolves and unique thermal features on day long guided excursions. And, an Outdoor Youth Adventures Program for children ages 4-18 makes the Ranch a great family vacation, too. Oh, and the Ranch has all of the creature comforts as well. Cozy log cabins with featherbeds, down comforters and western furnishings provide a comfortable home away from home in the mountains of southwest Montana. Guests gather in the charming saloon looking out on a grove of aspens before joining their friends for dinner in the spectacular Dining Lodge, where camaraderie and gourmet ranch cuisine end a perfect day on the snow. Once a week guests board sleighs harnessed to massive draft horses for a journey through the woods to the North Fork Cabin, where a prime rib feast cooked on a century old cook stove and musical entertainment await – a truly unique “old West” evening. Western charm and world class winter sports draw guests back year after year to sample all the Ranch has to offer.
