Solving the Late Kick

So, you have been skiing in the classic style for a while, but from time to time your ski slips backwards from under you. Does it happen on uphills, or perhaps even on level terrain when the grip wax is not quite right? This Ski Tip will help you to reduce these “miskicks” to a minimum.

  

   What is a kick?

  

   A kick is a quick movement of a leg and ski which causes the skier to propel forward. Although the motion takes only a fraction of a second, it employs several skills, namely pressure, flexion-extension and balance. Just before the kick, the foot pressure deforms the ski down, providing a solid contact of the grip wax with the snow.
